Questions families ask
Short answers. Tap a question to open it.
What is a clinical trial?
A careful study that tests a new way to treat or care for cancer, in people who choose to take part. Doctors compare it with the usual treatment to learn what works better.
Is a clinical trial safe?
Every approved trial in India is reviewed by an ethics committee and must follow national rules. Doctors check you often. No trial can promise a result, so ask the trial team about possible side effects.
Will I get treatment?
Yes. In most cancer trials everyone gets treatment: either the usual treatment or the one being tested. Ask the trial team how it works in that trial.
Do I have to pay?
Ask the trial team which costs are covered. MyCancerTrials never asks for money, and nobody should ask you to pay to join a trial through us.
Can I leave a trial?
Yes, at any time and for any reason. Your normal care continues.
Who decides if I can join?
Only the trial team and your own doctor. Our pages show the main rules (who can and cannot join) so you know what to ask.
What should I bring?
Your biopsy report, recent scans and test reports, a list of the medicines you take, and an ID card.
What does 'phase' mean?
Phase 1 trials are small and test safety. Phase 2 checks if it works. Phase 3 compares it with the usual treatment in many people. 'Not phased' means a study of how care is given. An observational study only watches and records; it gives no new treatment.
What are CTRI and NCT numbers?
Every trial has a registration number. CTRI is India's registry; NCT is the international registry ClinicalTrials.gov. Quote the number when you call or write.
How do you find these trials?
We read the public registries (ClinicalTrials.gov and the Clinical Trials Registry of India) and show trials that are taking patients, with the date we last checked.
Can I read this website in my language?
Yes. Use the language buttons at the top of every page. Google translates the page for you. Medical words may not be exact, so check the trial number and hospital name with the trial team.
Can you help me contact a trial team?
Yes. Write to hope@mycancertrials.com with the city, the type of cancer and the trial number. We reply in simple words. We never ask for money.
Is this medical advice?
No. We share public information so you can ask good questions. Always talk to your own doctor.
